The Client
Three (Hutchinson 3G) is a worldwide mobile service provider. Founded in 2002, Three operates in 10 countries including the UK; where it boasts the largest 3G network covering 97% of the population.
The Challenge
JIT were tasked with creating a replacement for an existing, call centre serviced, system where operators performed redundant data entry into four separate systems in order to effect mobile broadband connections.
What we did
Web portal for self service mobile broadband connection, built for .NET 4 in VB.NET, SQL Server 2008 R2
Integrated by consuming web services from two separate systems, one being 3’s stock management system and the other being 3’s airtime management system using server-server HTTP posts with SagePay payment gateway.
Hosting, installation, setup, failover server with redundant database and web application, replication between live and failover databases, ongoing support, maintenance and SLA for application and hardware. Administration and reporting. Multiple access levels including administrator, advisor, public. Third party availability monitoring.
We were selected for the project because of our previous experience with integration with three’s connection web service, and because we offered a flexible enough approach to handle the delivery of a working system to a non-negotiable deadline. The reason for the strict deadline was that Three had a schedule for manufacturing hardware and packaging with the URL of the application printed on. These hardware items were to be delivered in preparation for the Christmas rush to major retailers such as Tesco, PC World, Apple, ASDA, etc. We were selected for the project ahead of Ericsson.
Technologies we used
HTML, CSS, Javascript, SOAP
