The Client
HG Aerospace Engineering Limited is an independent manufacturer of aerospace components for both civil and military aircrafts. For the past 50 years, they have been manufacturing aircraft components for companies such as BAE Systems, Airbus & Hawker.
The Challenge
HG Aerospace had previously ran their business with a manual order processing system consisting of mostly Excel spreadsheet and Word templates. As their organisation grew in size and turnover, this soon proved to be too labour-intensive. Its unwieldy nature led to human errors which cost money and threatened their image as a high-precision organisation. They decided that they needed to automate the business process.
HG Aerospace were unwilling to sacrifice the robustness and quality of their working processes by changing them to fit an off-the-shelf system. They decided to have a bespoke solution built to their exact requirements to run the company as they wanted.
After a less successful attempt with another software company was abandoned, JIT were approached to deliver HG Aerospace's requirements. Our software analyst spent two days working with HG Aerospace to learn and analyse their business, before creating and agreeing with the directors on a Requirements Statement.
The Requirements Statement was put through JIT's technical design methodology to produce a full system specification for the development team to work to.
What We Did
After three months of development, JIT provided a fully secure web based system to handle business processes such as handling of enquiries and orders, catalogue management and document production. The system is built around JIT's core components which are robust enough to deliver a cost-effective blend of rapidity and stability, while flexible enough to accommodate HG Aerospace's exact requirements.
The underlying technologies that were agreed upon for the project were selected for their ability to scale with HG Aerospace's growth and to be accessible from anywhere in the world. Full post-delivery support is provided in the form of documentation, training and issue tracking.
