Case Management System - Corporate Support

Successfully delivering a world-class distributed application to an insurance client.

The Client

Corporate Support are a specialist provider of employee assistance programmes (EAPs) in the healthcare insurance market.

The Challenge

In 2004 Corporate Support designed a flagship product in the form of a counselling support package. Enthusiastically received by employers, among them many household names, this offers employees access to counselling sessions for a range of personal issues such as stress, family concerns, emotional issues, etc. This product was unique to the market and was dependent on the interaction of many agencies, including call centre operators, claims handlers, clinical managers and, of course, a national network of counsellors. These requirements necessitated a bespoke software solution. Due to the sensitive nature of the information collected and stored, the system needed to be very secure and very robust. Given that many of the users were less experienced with online applications, it had to be simple to use with a clean interface. Timely and flexible reporting capabilities were essential for Corporate Support employees to monitor product usage and provide feedback to clients.

What We Did

The overall system design was carried out by Corporate Support as part of their EAP product, so JIT were left to consultatively design each use case, such as "initial call details recorded at the call centre" and "clinical manager refers case to counsellor". To each case JIT applied the highest standards of usable interface design and security. The system was delivered on time, on budget, and all user groups expressed a high degree of satisfaction with the results.

The technologies that JIT chose for this project included PHP and mySQL, which are the driving force behind such familiar web applications as those offered by Facebook, Yahoo!, BBC and Nokia. The wisdom of this choice is attested by the fact that, since Corporate Support became part of PPC Worldwide in 2007, their client base has grown considerably while the system has remained heavily used and highly available. Due diligence dictated that PPC Worldwide should test that the security of the system met the standards required of one that holds so much sensitive clinical information; these "penetration tests" were passed with flying colours.

JIT Continues to proudly and enthusiastically support the project by means of telephone and email assistance, documentation, report design and feature development.
